Pupil Leadership Team (School Council)
At The Downs Primary School and Nursery we have a Pupil Leadership Team (PLT), which is essentially the same a school council. The PLT meet directly with the Headteacher and discuss learning, school events and the direction the school is heading.
The PLT is made up of children from Years 2-6, one member from each class. They meet over lunch with the Headteacher on a Friday and this meeting goes on into the early afternoon. These meetings happen at least twice every half term.
The main focus for these meetings is for the Headteacher to get a clear indication of pupil voice in regards to the constant strive to improve standards in teaching and learning and to increase the children’s opportunities to participate in community events.
